From David G. WHITE:

Am researching my WHITE ancestry. I have several older genealogies compiled by family members in the past and passed down to me. There is great consistency about the information back to a Samuel WHITE, supposedly born in Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1676. The genealogy in which I have greatest confidence ‎(prepared by Lawrence BRAINERD of Boston, in 1919 for my great grandfather)‎ says this Samuel was third child ‎(after Ebenezer and Thomas)‎ of Lieut. Ebenezer WHITE, born Weymouth 1648, who married Hannah PHILLIPS ‎(1671)‎ and died in Weymouth Aug. 24, 1703. I have from several sources that this Ebenezer was son of Captain Thomas WHITE ‎(b. c1599, England, d. August 1679 in Weymouth)‎. However, I can find no sources to corroborate that Samuel was son of Ebenezer. I have read that there is no record of Samuel's birth. My question is, does anyone have information which would either confirm or refute Samuel as son of Ebenezer? Here's what I have on Samuel ‎(almost entirely from Brainerd)‎:

Lieut. and Deacon Samuel WHITE, son of Lieut. Ebenezer and Hannah ‎(PHILLIPS)‎ WHITE, was born Weymouth Mass. in 1676. He was a life-long resident of the place and resided in what is now South Weymouth. He was prominent in church affairs and was elevated to the dignified office of Deacon Feb. 17, 1726. His title of Lieutenant which is found in the death record of his wife and other places was derived from local military affiliations undoubtedly. He married in Weymouth about 1699, Anna PRATT, born in Weymouth, Sept. 24, 1682 and died there Sept. 14, 1757, aged 75, the daughter of Matthew and Sarah ‎(HUNT)‎ PRATT, this latter couple were deaf and dumb. Deacon WHITE died in Weymouth Aug. 18, 1760, aged 84 years.
