The twelfth day of January, one thousand six hundred and seventy two

At this time was solemnized the marriage of M. Antoine Barois, resident of Laprairie de la Magdelaine, son of M. Jean Barrois, surgeon, and of Marie Tournel, his father and mother, of the parish of St. Nicholas Chantel in Bourbonnois Diocese de Bourge in Berry.

With Anne LeBer, daughter of M. Francois LeBer, resident of this place, and of the late Francoise Lefrancois, her father and mother, of the parish of Pistres in Normandie diocese of Rouen.

The three bans having been published without opposition, the said marriage was performed in the presence of Charles Boyer and of Mathieu Fay, called Lafayette, resident of La prairie de la Magdelaine; of M. Francois LeBer, father of the said (Anne); of Jeanne Testar, her stepmother; of M. Jacques LeBer, merchant; of Miss Catherine primot; and of several others, all friends in common of the said parties.

The said Anne leBer, her father and her stepmother, the said Charles Boyer and Mathieu Faye have declared

to sign [this document] according to law.

NOTE:  Charles LeMoyne and Jacques LeBer are wealthy merchants and traders in Montreal.  Jacques LeBer is the uncle of the bride, Anne LeBer.   Jacques LeBer is also the father of Jeanne LeBer, the renowned religious recluse.   However, I do not think that the Jeanne LeBer, above, who signed this marriage document, is the religious recluse as has been claimed.   Rather I suspect that the Jeanne LeBer above is actually Jeanne Testard, step-mother of the bride.   It is very unlikely that Jeanne, the recluse and cousin of the bride would have left her seclusion to attend a wedding, even that of a close relative.
