Thomas Newhall was the son of Thomas and Mary (Woodland) Newhall of Olney Parish, Sheerington, Buckinghamshire, England. One source says he was born in Olney Parish, and another says "he was the first white child born in Lynn."

He married Elizabeth Potter, Dec. 29, 1652 in Lynn, Essex Co., Mass.

He died Intestate and an inventory of his estate was presented by John Newhall, an executor of his estate, for £700.
