Margaret’s father, Thomas Spencer, provided very well for her, his eldest daughter, as seen in the following excerpt from YD 2:79:

The deposition of Nicholas Hodesden and his wife aged 40 years and upward. These deponants being sworn saith that about fifteen or sixteen years ago that Thomas Spencer being at Quamphegon at the house we then lived in said that he had given the one half of his half part of the mill and timber thereunto belonging being one quarter part of the mill unto Daniel Goodwin for his daughters portion Nicholas Hodesden and his wife replied and said neighbor Spenser I wish you well to consider what you do for you had many children and everyone would have a little and you cannot give every one such a portion and he answared and said that she was the eldest daughter and he had done it and farther saith not.

Taken upon oath this 18th day of Aprill 1670
