He came from Lincolnshire, England to America in 1634, in the ship "Defense" with his wife Jane and daughter Ester. He and his wife were among the first members of the church. Richard was the ruling elder in the church. He dealt largely in real estate. Richard dies Nov. 26, 1669. He bequeathed forty acres of to land to Harvard College, "as an expression of his willingness to further the education of youth in Godly literature." (copied from Orman/Jeffries Families online)
