LITTLEFIELD

EDMUND, Wells, came 1st to Boston likely with two oldest sons.  Wife Annis (Austin) aged 38, six children, and servants John Knight and Hugh Durdal followed in the –Bevis- in May 1638 from Titchfield, County Hants., where he was baptized 27 June 1592 and married her 16 Oct. 1614.  New England Register 67,343.  At Exeter he signed the Combination  5 June 1639, had two lots in the 1st division of uplands, and removed  to Wells before 14 July 1643, when Thomas Gorges granted him 100 acres adjacent the mill and the neck of marsh between that and Webhannet River.  There he had a saw and gristmill, and headed a large and prominent family.   The 1st year he was agent for R. Vines to give possession.;  in Nov. 1645 Vines granted To John Wadleigh and E. L. 200 acres on S.W. side of Ogunquit River, not intrenching on town of Wells.  Trial Jury 1645, 1647; Grand Jury 1645, 1647; Oath Allegiance  to Mass. 5 July 1653.  Com. T. e. s. c. 1654 to death, except 1657.  Authorized 1654 to sell wine and strong liquor to Indians.   Selectman  1654, 1657.  Lists 373, 376a, 378, 261, 252, 263, 263, 264.  Will 11 Dec. 1661; Family Compromise signed 17 Dec. by son Francis Sr., his mother, and brothers Thomas  and Francis, Jr.; inventory 24 Dec.  Widow Annis’s will 12 Dec. 1677, inventory 7 Mar. 1677-8.  Children, all but Mary baptized at Titchfield:  Ann, baptized 11 Feb. 1615-6, buried 2 Jan. 1616-7.  Edward, baptized 17 Feb. 1617-8, buried 13 June 1635.  Francis, baptized 17 June 1619.  Anthony, baptized 7 Oct. 1621.  John, baptized 1 Nov. 1624.  Elizabeth, baptized 22 July 1627, married John Wakefield.  Mary, married  Lt.
