The following is from an old, hand-written notebook dated 1883:

Richard Porter settled in Weymouth, Mass. in 1635. His name is in a "list of passengers at Weymouth, England March 30, 1633, bound for New England. He lived not far from where the meeting house of the North Parrish now stands, probably between there and the old burying ground.  The name of his wife was probably Ruth. They married in America, probably. He died between Dec 25, 1688 and March 6, 1689.
