Thomas Blanchard (son of Pierre Jean Blanchard) was born 1590 in born in France went to England during French Hugenot migration/France, and died May 21, 1654 in Charlestown, MA. He married Agnes Bent.

 Notes for Thomas Blanchard:
Thomas1 Blanchard resided in Benton, Hampshire, England and came to New England in the ship "Jonathan" from London April 12,1639 with his second wife Ann (Bent) Barnes who died at sea on the way over. He settled at Braintree apparently, but is not mentioned as of this town until 1646, and had no land granted to him here. He remained in Braintree until 1651 when he removed to Charlestown where he bought land.
He had a first wife in England whose name has not been discussed.

His second wife was widow Ann (or Agnes) Barnes of St. Edmunds, widow of Richard Barnes, and daughter of Robert & Agnes (Gosling) Bent of Penton-Grafton, Hants. She was baptized there July 16,1602 and married Thomas Blanchard May 15,1637 at St. Edmunds, Salisbury, Wiltshire.
His marriage license called, yeoman, and widower, of Clatford, Co. Southampton, a parish two miles south of Andover. She died on the passage to New England as did her mother and an infant child of hers.

Thomas Blanchard had married a third wife Mary Shrimpton, sister of Henry soon after reaching New England.
She survived him and was mentioned in his will dated May 22, 1652, proved June 20,1654. (See Register 17-156,32-407-11, Bent Gen., History of Weymouth Vol.3,p.97, etc.) He died May 21, 1654 at Charlestown. (Probate Rec.).

His will mentions besides his wife Mary, children George, Thomas, Samuel, Nathaniel, grandchild Joseph. Gave money to the church at Malden and provided that Benjamin Tompson be fitted for college if his parents consent.

Thomas Blanchard's 3rd wife, Mary ---, who was living on Noddles Island (Charlestown) in 1663, and who died before Apr.3,1676, the date her will was proved, was undoubtedly Mary Shrimpton. Henry Shrimpton of Boston, in his will probated Jul.17,1666, leaves the sum of five pounds to his sister, "Widow Blanchette." To date, no other person bearing the Blanchard name has been found who was living there at the time and who could fit this description.

He was witness to a deed at Braintree in 1648 (Braintree Rec. p.3) when Henry Flint sold a house to Dr. John Morley and it seems probable he was one of the townsmen or selectmen.

A Mss. genealogy of this family compiled in late 19th century (1870's) by Walter Blanchard now deposited in the library at Buffalo, N.Y. has furnished data on this family not now readily available. Extracts used from it were furnished by courtesy of Mr. J. Crawford Hartman of Brooklyn, N.Y., now compiling a Blanchard genealogy (1951). Many interesting depositions as to the passage from England of Thomas Blanchard and family, from the Middlesex and Essex Co. court files are printed in the N.E. Register, Vol.32, pp.407-11.
