Millennium File about Elizabeth Clinton
Name: Elizabeth Clinton
Spouse: John FitzWilliam
Birth Date: 1331
Birth: Maxstoke, Warwick, England
Death: c. 1400
Parents: Earl William De Clinton 11th of Huntingdon and Baroness Juliane De Leyburne of Hastings.
The ancestry of Elizabeth is somewhat questionable because her father William Clinton is said to have died without children (dsp) by Burke's Peerage and Complete Peerage. Other internet sources have Elizabeth being a daughter of William's brother John Clinton by Margery Corbet. This may indeed be the case.

According to some accounts Earl William De Clinton (who dspm 25 Aug 1354) had a daughter Elizabeth, who married Sir John Fitzwilliam of Sprotborough, and she was thus the ancestress of the succeeding race there, as also of the present Earl FitzWilliam.

A probable surmise as to this daughter, who inherited none of his lands, is, that, if she ever existed...she was illegitimate.

The Sorley Pedigrees p 40 shows Elizabeth as daughter of John Clinton and Margery Corbet.
