Both The Wentworth Genealogy and the Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and NH [Noyes, Libby, Davis] have Sarah (Allen) Wentworth (1679-1770) as the daughter of Edward and Sarah Allen of Dover Neck, NH. [See p. 62 of the Genealogical Dictionary.]

Sarah was m. to Benjamin Wentworth about 1697 and had 12 children. Their oldest child, William, was b. 14 Aug 1698, and their youngest, Mark, was b. 30 May 1720. Benjamin Wentworth was drowned on 25 July 1728 -- "at 11 o'clock at night, going home from Dover Neck, he missed the boom and drove into the river." His wife Sarah was appointed administrator of his estate. In January 1756, she gave her age as 76 when she was deposed; Dover records show that she died on 12 July 1770, age 91. Her parents were EDWARD ALLEN Sr circa 1648 – after 1704 and SARAH KIMBALL c 1635 – 1690. Sarah (Allen) Wentworth was born 1679 in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire. Her grandparents were Hope Allen Sr 1625 – 1677 and Rachel Knight 1626 – 1667 -and Richard Kimball 1595 – 1675 and Ursula Scott 1597 – 1675.

This is *NOT* the Sarah Allen daughter of John Allen and Mary Pike. She married to John Gordon (1670 – 1717). She was born 09 FEB 1676 Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA.

About her father: Source: "Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire" [Noyes, Libby, Davis], p. 62: EDWARD ALLEN, received from his father, Hope Allen (wife Rachel), of Boston, a large part of Portland [Maine], bought from Mr. Cleeve, and sold it to George Bramhall and Henry Kirke. Apparently came first to Berwick, and was fined in York Court, July 1673, for being absent from meeting, but soon settled on Dover Neck below Thompson's Point. Prison keeper, 1678, probably bookkeeper for Major Waldron. In 1703-1704. he visited Lynn to assist the widow about his brother Capt. Benjamin's estate. His wife, Sarah, died about 1720. Children: 3 sons and "several daughters"...

[Two of the sons are identified as Edward Jr., later of Nantucket, and Joseph of Dover. The daughters are identified as Rachel (Allen) Twombly, Sarah (Allen) Wentworth, Leah (Allen) Canney, and Mary (Allen) Pinkham. A third son, unidentified, "went to sea" and likely died there.]
