Boston rec., under date 10 Nov. 1684, state that W. R., carpenter. Had come from Piscataqua and was liv. in the ho. of Magnus White. Ret. to Portsmouth. Gr.j. 1693: j. 1694. Lists 329, 330d. 331b, 335a, 52, 355a (Goody). It is apparent that he m. twice, his 1st w., name unkn., being the mo. of Agnes, who m. Matthew Nelson(2). The 2d, Jane, was a young w. of his old age, married bef. 1699, when he made a will leaving all to her except two candlesticks to his dan. Nelson and 1 s. apiece to his gr.ch. Jane's ch., b. after this will was signed, were Benjamin, and Mary (m. 10 Dec. 1719 Richard Cross). Liv. in 1712 when he deeded to Col. Westbrook, he d. bef. 9 Jan. 1717-8 when wid. Jane m. Anthony Libby(1). His will was not proved, the wit. being dead. and his s. Benjamin was app. adm. In 1723-4, wid. Jane Libby declining. Yet, as Jane -Rackley-, exec., she and Lydia. Benjamin's wid., deeded to Valentine Nutter in 1729. Altho in this deed Lydia is described as wid. of his (Wm.'s) only son. there is room for conjecture that (2) and (5) were sons by W. R.'s 1st w. One and prob. both were dead when he made his will. and Benjamin was his only surv. s., his only s. with right of inheritance from his mo., Jane, and her only s.

The close assoc. of (2), (4) and (5) with the Nelsons is more than chance
