Pomfret, William, - 1680

William Pomfret was an English distiller who offered to go to New England in 1622.  He was at Monhegan in 1624 and later bought land on the Piscataway River in Dover, New Hampshire.  In 1647, Lieutenant Pomfret was elected town clerk of Dover, a position that he had for several years.
